Your new role:

As a Senior Occupational Therapist within the Metro South Palliative Care Service, you will play a key role in delivering expert, evidence-based occupational therapy to patients with life-limiting conditions. You will work closely within a highly collaborative, interprofessional team, contributing to both clinical care and service development. Key aspects of this role include:

  • Providing advanced clinical Occupational Therapy services, including assessment, intervention, and evaluation for complex palliative care patients in both community and inpatient settings.
  • Leading quality improvement initiatives, clinical education, and service development activities to enhance the delivery of palliative care therapy services.
  • Offering supervision, training, and professional guidance to less experienced clinicians, students, and Allied Health Assistants.
  • Acting as a clinical reference point within the team and collaborating with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure comprehensive, patient-centred care.

  • Demonstrate extensive experience and expertise in palliative care occupational therapy, including the ability to make complex clinical decisions with independence.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities, including supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior staff and students.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Show a commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement, with the ability to initiate and lead quality and research initiatives.
