About your role
As a Scientist - Production with Queensland Tissue Bank, you will be responsible for donor tissue recovery and processing services using specialized surgical techniques. You will facilitate the donation and supply of allograft tissues including ocular, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and skin tissues. Your role is governed by relevant legislation, codes, and standards to ensure quality and safety in tissue banking. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to research, development, and service improvement projects to enhance tissue donation outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform deceased donor tissue recovery and aseptic tissue processing according to approved protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Manage equipment, consumables, and supplies necessary for tissue processing and packaging.
- Collect, validate, and maintain accurate data and documentation for donor and tissue information.
- Provide advice and clinical supervision to less experienced practitioners and support staff.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including surgeons, nurses, forensic units, and health services.

You are a qualified clinical scientist with strong technical skills in tissue recovery and processing, committed to delivering high quality and compliant services.

- Hold a relevant clinical undergraduate degree in medical science, science, applied science or a relevant field.

About Queensland Tissue Bank
Queensland Tissue Bank (QTB) is Queensland's sole facility for the provision of donated human tissues for therapeutic use. QTB performs all stages of tissue procurement including donor identification, screening and consent; and all stages of tissue preparation including retrieval, processing, storage, despatch, and quality management. Banked tissues include bone, skin, eye, and heart valves. Of the Australian states, Queensland has the largest tissue bank and provides therapeutic tissue products for both local and interstate use. QTB plays a part in informing both state and national policy on tissue banking.
