Your new role:
As an Advanced Carer Peer Worker, you'll use your lived or living experience as a carer of someone with mental health challenges to connect with, support, and educate other carers and families. This role strengthens recovery-oriented care and promotes carer inclusion across services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing emotional support, information and education to carers and families.
- Sharing personal carer experience to model recovery and build connection.
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and co-facilitating carer support groups.
- Advocating for carer-inclusive practices and identifying service improvements.
About you:
You are a passionate and empathetic individual with lived or living experience as a mental health carer. You are ready to use your experience to empower others and promote recovery-focused care.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Willingness and confidence to share your own lived or living experience to support others.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trusting relationships.
- An understanding of recovery principles, peer work values and carer-inclusive frameworks.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain professional boundaries.
