Your new role:
As the Lead for the Lived Experience Workforce within Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and recovery-focused environment for both consumers and carers. This position offers the opportunity to lead strategic projects, provide professional supervision, and support the expansion and development of a diverse peer workforce.
- Lead and manage a geographically dispersed consumer and carer workforce with compassion, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
- Provide operational support, professional supervision, and guidance to peer workers while ensuring high-quality consumer and carer-focused services.
- Lead strategic initiatives and projects that promote social inclusion, recovery, and lived experience leadership within addiction and mental health services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to enhance workforce development and implement quality improvement activities.
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate who has a personal lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use issues, or a personal lived/living experience of caring for a person with mental health and/or substance use issues. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.
About you:
You are a dynamic and experienced leader with a strong commitment to lived experience values, recovery principles, and workforce development. You thrive in complex environments and excel at building authentic relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proven experience managing and supporting a peer workforce, including providing trauma-informed supervision, mentoring, and education across multiple sites.
- Strong understanding of mental health and addiction legislation, policies, and frameworks, with the ability to apply these through a lived experience and recovery-oriented lens.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage diverse stakeholders, promote co-design, and elevate consumer and carer voices.
- Skilled in project management, digital literacy, and the use of technology to support workforce collaboration and ensure equitable access to resources.
