About your role
As an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) – Sterilising Services, you will support the Central Sterilising Department at Redland Hospital by ensuring reusable surgical and medical instruments are cleaned, sterilised, and ready for patient care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing sterilising and disinfection tasks according to best practice standards
- Following delegated care plans under the supervision of Registered or Enrolled Nurses
- Assisting with stock control, restocking, and equipment checking
- Maintaining accurate documentation and using hospital IT systems
- Supporting infection control and contributing to a clean, safe working environment
- Participating in training, mandatory competencies, and quality improvement activities
About you
You are a proactive, detail-oriented team player committed to safe patient care.
You bring:
- Certificate III in Sterilising Services (or commitment to complete within 12 months)
- Willingness to work across sterilising and endoscopy departments
- Ability to follow protocols, take direction, and work under supervision
- Basic understanding of infection control and sterilisation standards
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills
- GENCA qualifications (highly regarded)
