About your role
As a Clinical Nurse in the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Acute Response Team, you'll provide advanced specialist nursing care to children, adolescents, and their families presenting with acute mental health concerns at Logan and Redland Hospital Emergency Departments.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver expert acute mental health assessments and care planning.
- Lead clinical decision-making and support safe, person-centred care.
- Provide direction, mentorship, and supervision to nursing staff and students.
- Apply evidence-based practice and participate in clinical research and audits.
- Contribute to service improvement, patient flow, and enhanced emergency care experiences.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, multidisciplinary teams, and families to achieve the best outcomes.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring advanced mental health nursing expertise, leadership, and a commitment to compassionate care for young people.
You will demonstrate:
- Advanced clinical skills in child and youth mental health nursing.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and clinical decision-making.
- Ability to mentor, supervise, and support other nurses and students.
- Experience in complex acute care environments with a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to professional development, quality improvement, and research.
- A Post graduate qualification or currently enrolled in a post graduate program in Mental Health Nursing (highly desirable).
- Current Credentialing as a Mental Health Nurse through the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (desirable).
