Your new role:
As the Administration Officer – Interpreter Services, you will help coordinate high-quality interpreter support for patients across Metro South Health. Your day-to-day work will ensure clients who are not proficient in English, or who are deaf or hearing impaired, receive the services they need. You will:
- Coordinate interpreter bookings, confirmations and records through the Interpreter Management System (IMS).
- Liaise with staff and providers to match interpreters to cultural, clinical and gender requirements.
- Monitor and action changes, reallocations and confirmations for bookings.
- Assist with service quality by following up incomplete requests and contributing to service improvements.

You will be an organised and team-focused professional with a strong commitment to customer service and cultural sensitivity. In this role, you will demonstrate:
- The ability to deliver accurate, high-quality administrative support.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Respect and understanding when working across different cultural, linguistic and community backgrounds.

About us:
The Metro South Health Interpreter Service facilitates the provision of professionally credited Interpreters for patients attending the hospital who are from non-English speaking (NESB) backgrounds, Deaf or Hearing Impaired. The services are provided free of charge to patients (including Medicare ineligible) attending Metro South Health and Queensland Health facilities. Interpreting services are provided by phone, video and face to face.
Metro South Health is Australia's first digital health service and one of the largest and in Queensland, with an estimated residential population of approximately one million people or 23 per cent of Queensland's population.
Metro South Health is situated in the South-East corner of Queensland from the Brisbane River in the north to the Redland City Council in the east, and to the Scenic Rim Shire down to the border of New South Wales in the south-west. It is the most culturally diverse area of Queensland with 28.5% of the community born overseas and 16% from non-English speaking countries.
