About your role

As a Nutrition and Dietetics Trainee, you'll work alongside experienced clinicians to deliver safe, patient-centred care at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in clinical assessment and treatment activities under the supervision of a qualified Allied Health professional.
  • Supporting patients and families through nutrition education and guidance.
  • Collaborating within an interprofessional team to achieve positive health outcomes.
  • Participating in professional development, team meetings and quality improvement projects.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation.

About you

You are a motivated, compassionate and proactive student of Nutrition and Dietetics who is eager to contribute to patient care while gaining valuable hands-on experience. You communicate well, thrive in a team environment, and demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and professional growth.

You'll have:

  • Current enrolment in a recognised Australian undergraduate or postgraduate program specific to the advertised discipline, leading to eligibility for registration as a Health Practitioner in Queensland.
  • A genuine interest in applying evidence-based nutrition principles to support patient care.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Hold a valid Blue Card prior to commencement.
  • Commitment to participate in a casual shift roster, including public holiday and weekend rosters, including 7 day extended hours service as required. 

Princess Alexandra Hospital:

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.

We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres. The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.

We're expanding our hospital to make sure everyone gets the care they need. We're adding more beds, modernising our buildings, and improving our spaces to treat kidney and cancer patients with all new services and facilities planned to open by 2027.
