Your new role:

Take the lead in managing and optimising enterprise-scale SQL environments that support Metro South Health's digital transformation. As Principal Database Administrator, you'll provide expert technical leadership and drive innovation across our database infrastructure.  You will: 

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of Metro South Health's enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environment.
  • Provide expert advice on database architecture, capacity planning, and performance optimisation.
  • Lead complex database migrations, upgrades, and projects that strengthen system reliability and cybersecurity.
  • Mentor technical staff and guide the adoption of emerging database and cloud technologies.

About you:

You are a seasoned database professional with strong technical capability and leadership skills, ready to make an impact in a large and complex healthcare environment.  You will have:

  • Significant experience in SQL Server design, tuning, and administration in enterprise-scale settings.
  • Proven ability to analyse, plan, and deliver complex ICT projects with strong change and risk management practices.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.

Princess Alexandra Hospital:

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.

The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.

We're expanding our hospital to make sure everyone gets the care they need. We're adding more beds, modernising our buildings, and improving our spaces to treat kidney and cancer patients with all new services and facilities planned to open by 2027.
