About the Role

As the Head of Department - Student Engagement, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead innovative strategies to enhance student achievement and attendance, particularly for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Monitor and assess individual student performance and behaviour, implementing targeted interventions as needed.
  • Oversee induction and support for new arrivals, addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders—parents, staff, tertiary institutions, and the State Schools Division—to improve student outcomes.
  • Equip school leaders and educators with tools and resources to support student success.
  • Develop and foster community partnerships with local businesses and non-profit organisations.
  • Liaise with external agencies to ensure holistic support for students and their families.
  • Embed socially just practices in school culture, focusing on attendance and academic achievement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and departmental policies.
  • Prepare required data returns for the Principal, as requested.
  • Manage departmental resources—human, financial, and curricular—to achieve strategic goals.
