WoodLinks State School are seeking applications for a Head of Department (Curriculum) to join their school community on a temporary part-time basis, at 0.20 FTE per fortnight, for a period of 7 months, unless otherwise determined.

This role works within Grades 4-6, working alongside the substantive HOD (C) who works the other 0.8. There is also a HOD (C) for Prep - Grade 3.

About WoodLinks State School

WoodLinks State School is located between Ipswich and Brisbane, in the suburb of Collingwood Park. 830 students from 46 different countries are enrolled in our school, all contributing much to the rich fabric of our school community. About the Role

The successful applicant will have exceptional communication skills, working with the other HOD(C)s to support our staff members as a united team. This person will also need to be able to be a contributing member to the broader Leadership Team of Principal, 3 Deputy Principals, a Head of Inclusive Practice and a Support Teacher (Literacy and Numeracy).

The main focus of this role will be the extension of our work in Shared Dialogic Reading, but underpinning this will be a clear knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum (Version 9) in English, Maths and Science. We are also using the Building Thinking Classrooms approach to mathematics and other learning areas.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
