We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Cleaner to join our team at Brisbane School of Distance Education on a permanent part-time basis. In this important role, you will play a key part in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the school by providing high-quality cleaning support. Your attention to detail will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, with your duties completed to the highest standard.

This is a part-time opportunity - 15 hours per fortnight (0.19 FTE)

About our school:

The Brisbane School of Distance Education provides lessons in an on-line environment to over 3500 students. This position provides cleaning services to support over 300 staff. The applicant should be flexible, take pride in their work and have an understanding of school and office cleaning requirements. Whilst BrisbaneSDE is a school, there are limited students on site and rather than classrooms to clean it is more office style cleaning. Our school is devoted to professional development and staff well-being, while upholding their motto of "each student succeeding". Your role:

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Cleaning windows, pictures, doorknobs, taps, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, glass doors and cupboards.
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • Cobweb and mildew control, utilising extendable equipment as necessary.
  • Cleaning of concrete, bitumen, asphalt and paved surfaces.
  • Disposal of rubbish and litter control including removal of material from drains and gutters between and/or surrounding buildings.
  • Dusting including student and office furniture, equipment and fans.
  • Hosing.
  • Removal of graffiti.
  • Sweeping and vacuuming.
  • Vinyl/timber floor maintenance including buffing, stripping and polishing.
  • Other appropriate cleaning duties as directed by the Principal/Business Manager.

What you need to succeed:

The ideal applicant will have the following skills:

  • Applicants should have an understanding of cleaning chemicals and their application or the ability to quickly learn
  • Applicants should embrace a team culture that benefits the school community
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to perform a split shift - Commence work prior to 6.00am for morning shift and commence at 2.00pm for afternoon shift - morning start times to be negotiated.
  • As Brisbane SDE is an on-line school, this role is similar with an office cleaning role rather than a traditional school cleaning role.
  • Hours MUST be worked on FRIDAY.
