Brisbane State High School is inviting applications for a Head of Department (Secondary) with a focus on Senior Mathematics for Semester two, 2025 unless otherwise determined.
As the Head of Department, you will be responsible for working with the Leadership and Management Team to enact the school's ongoing improvement agenda.
The successful

A key component of this role is building positive and productive partnerships to ensure that students experience curriculum and learning experiences that allow them to reach their personal best. This will be achieved through proactively and collaboratively working with the school's leadership team to build a faculty that lives the State High values of Learning, Excellence, Respect and Public Education. This work will be delivered through your collaborative processes that build a mindsets of visible progress, expertise and culture.
Working as part of the school's leadership team you will be instrumental in developing mindsets, pedagogical practices and curriculum knowledge of teachers within your faculty. A key part of your success will be your ability to develop and nurture positive working relationships with, and between, students, parents and staff in a large and complex school community.

The Head of Department - Senior Mathematics will have responsibility for:
- Working collaboratively with all members of the Leadership and Management Team to enact the school philosophy and Strategic Plan.
- Actively participating in learning, research and ongoing professional development that enable you to improve both as a leader and a classroom teacher.
- Setting and maintaining high standards for student performance by leading your faculty to uphold the spirit of State High with a specific focus on improving learning outcomes and fostering a growth mindset.
- Leading calibration and moderation practices that build strong alignment between curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
- Maintaining and developing productive and positive partnerships with parents, all staff, other government agencies and community groups to maximise each student's performance and potential.
- Leading the development of quality differentiated learning practices aligned to our school vision, values and pedagogical framework.
- Promoting a culture of creativity and critical reflection with open, excited, motivated and dynamic conversations.
- Setting and maintaining a highly supportive and challenging culture that encourages high standards of staff and student performance.
- Maintaining a high visibility and presence within the school community.
- Embedding socially just and inclusive practices in daily school life.
