An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate educator to join the leadership team at Springfield Central State High School as the Head of Department - Student Engagement, on a temporary full-time basis from 14 July 2025 until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Head of
Department - Students with Additional Needs plays a critical role in shaping and promoting an inclusive school culture. This position is responsible for ensuring that all students receive equitable and excellent educational opportunities in alignment with the Queensland Department of Education's Equity and Excellence strategy.

About the Role
As the Head of Department - Students with Additional Needs you will have responsibility for:
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the Student With Additional Needs Team.
- Lead and manage the Students with Additional Needs Program to provide advice to classroom teachers for students with disability as needed.
- Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
- Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.
- Provide, support and/or coordinate case management for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments.
About You
The successful candidate will be a highly capable instructional leader, with a drive for leading inclusive education through a multi-tiered system of support, as well as being futures-orientated and innovative to support student pathways.
Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Inclusive Leadership: Leads whole-school inclusive practices through strategic planning, data-informed decision-making (including NCCD), and collaboration with specialist staff.
- Case Management Expertise: Coordinates case management, including stakeholder meetings, RAR service delivery, and support for students with disabilities across Year 10-12
- Instructional Leadership: Builds expert teaching teams by delivering professional development, co-facilitating faculty meetings, co-teaching, and supporting curriculum planning (e.g. Year 10 ICP, QCIA, AARA processes).
- Support Hub & Program Oversight: Manages Support Hub operations, data analysis, service models (RAR), and relevant budgets to ensure timely, coordinated student support.
- Pathways & Post-School Transitions: Collaborates on senior student pathways including QCIA, SET Plans, and disability service providers.
