The administration staff at Queensland Children's Hospital School pride themselves in providing efficient and professional support to lead, inspire and connect our community.

The HR administration officer is responsible for providing high level operational support and advice to staff on a diverse range of human resource management matters.

Working closely with the Business Manager, the HR officer will build and maintain professional relationships with the school leadership team and align the day to day operational requirements with the office staff in a dynamic school office environment.

Queensland Children's Hospital School leads this work and supports 25 sites across Queensland - 6 campuses in Brisbane, 16 campuses across other Regions, and 3 sites as part of the virtual hospital education program - where students who are affected by hospitalisation (or attending a long-term mental health treatment program) can continue in their education and have a seamless transition back to school or onto another learning pathway.

Students may be from Kindy to Year 12 and may be from the state, Catholic or independent sector. Our programs implement the Australian Curriculum, catering for each student's individual needs, and work closely with students' base schools to ensure continuity of education and successful transitions. Accountabilities

  • Implementation of human resource operational strategies, processes and systems to enable the efficient and effective provision of client focused services ensuring compliance to legislative requirements.
  • Monitor service delivery to identify efficiencies and ensure compliance with government and departmental legislation, directives, policies and standards.
  • Provide operational support and advice on a range of human resource matters to enable informed decision making.
  • Research and analyse human resource practices, in collaboration with the Business Manager, to enable informed decision making for the resolution of operational issues and the adoption of best practice.
  • Lead the administration requirements for HR contract management in both support staff and teaching staff
  • Coordinate and administer, effective and efficient human resource processes and functions which may include:
  • Providing support with recruitment and onboarding
  • Assisting staff regarding employment conditions, pay and leave, MyHR, contracts and claims

Role Profile

  • Assist the Business Manager to liaise with leadership teams and teaching staff across multiple campuses to support the state-wide focus of the Queensland Hospital Education Program.
  • Negotiating placements of required staff and monitoring availability of funds to ensure compliance within budget;
  • Review local human resource systems and provide recommendations for enhancement
  • Manage and maintain staffing allocation spreadsheet and State-wide staffing details
  • Support the daily staffing requirements for the school including the day-to-day supervision and management of Teacher Aides
  • Manage and process the Salary Recovery;
  • Payroll verification reports fortnightly;
  • Oversee Professional Development register and manage PD bookings mandatory training requirements
  • RRTWC Officer
  • Provide a comprehensive range of administrative support (e.g., prepare and maintain excel spreadsheets, reports and correspondence);
  • Oversee the alignment of whole school HR processes;
  • School Budget Solution support;
  • Credit & usage entries;
  • Other administrative tasks to meet the requirements of the State-wide service

These responsibilities are not exhaustive, and other responsibilities may be performed by the Human Resources officer. Duties may vary based on operational requirements of Queensland Children's Hospital School.
