About the Role
The Vocational Trainer plays a key role in delivering high-quality vocational education and training to students, with a strong focus on building industry partnerships and developing meaningful employment pathways. This role involves working closely with students in practical learning environments, supporting their skill development, and preparing them for successful transitions into the workforce. Strong connections with local industry are essential to ensure training remains relevant and aligned with current workforce needs.
This position is based at Ipswich State High School, which operates the only Trade Training Centre in the Ipswich area. The Centre, along with the school's Excellence Pathway Program endorsed by the Department of Education, offers students access to real industry experience through a scheduled work experience program and a simulated work environment. These programs are supported by strong community links that enhance students' readiness for employment.
Mandatory requirement of this role
Mandatory requirements and desirable qualifications and experience for this role are:
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
- Qualifications to the level, or above, being delivered. (It is highly desirable that you have qualifications in)
- Certificate I or II in Construction
- Certificate II in Resource and Infrastructure
- Certificate II Engineering
- Certificate III Engineering -Technical
- Certificate II Electrotechnology
- Knowledge and experience in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Demonstrated extensive relevant industry experience and currency. (It is highly desirable that you have at least three years full time industry experience as a tradesperson where they have applied the skills and knowledge covered in these qualifications and skills to competency to assess this unit as part of a trade qualification; this cannot include any indentured traineeship or apprenticeship period.)
Your Responsibilities
As the Vocational Trainer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Writing training package resource
- Linking with industry, schools, and other VET providers; and
- Maintaining currency with industry practices, workplace delivery and contemporary teaching methodologies and philosophies
