This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.53FTE), 40 hours per fortnight.

About Springfield Central State High School

Located in Greater Springfield, approximately 40 minutes from the Brisbane CBD, Springfield Central State High School is a large and vibrant Independent Public School for students in Years 7-12.

Our school prides itself on maintaining a safe, clean and professional learning environment, with high expectations for the presentation of our facilities and the wellbeing of our students and staff. Maintaining these standards is an important part of supporting the workplace health and safety of our school community, ensuring that learning spaces remain welcoming, hygienic and well cared for throughout the school day.

About the Role

As the Cleaner, you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by providing a high level of cleaning support and ensuring duties are completed to an acceptable standard in accordance with the approved school cleaning program.

School Term Hours: 10:00-2:00pm + ADO
School Holiday Hours: TBC

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Scheduled rotation and thorough cleaning and sanitising of toilets and amenities blocks across the school to maintain high hygiene standards.
  • Regular rubbish removal, litter control and clearing debris from drains and gutters.
  • Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and hosing.
  • Cleaning windows, doors, surfaces, furniture, fittings and equipment.
  • Cobweb and mildew control using appropriate equipment.
  • Graffiti removal to maintain a clean and welcoming school environment.
  • Locking and unlocking buildings and activating/disarming security systems as required.
  • Reporting maintenance, safety or security concerns to the Principal or Business Manager.
  • Liaising regarding cleaning materials and stock requirements.
  • Undertaking other appropriate duties as directed.

Preferred Attributes

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has previous cleaning experience, ideally within a school or similar large facility.
  • Can provide a professional referee who can speak to the quality and reliability of their cleaning work.
