Ipswich East State School is seeking an experienced and highly motivated teacher to take on a temporary Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) role for Term 2.

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring or emerging leader to build their leadership capability while contributing to a highly inclusive and complex school context.

The role will involve working alongside the current HOSES, with responsibilities shared across the portfolio.

The successful applicant will take on a more active and visible presence across the school, supporting staff, students and systems in day-to-day practice.

Who We Are:

Ipswich East State School is a dynamic and highly inclusive school community, with approximately 60% of students identified through the NCCD process.

Our work is grounded in Brighter Futures, with a strong focus on inclusive practice, student engagement, and building teacher capability through coaching and collaboration.

About the Role:

As HOSES, you will support the leadership and coordination of our Special Education Program, working closely with the Principal and leadership team to strengthen inclusive practices across the school.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and leading inclusive practices to ensure equity and excellence for students with disability
  • Providing high quality advice and coaching to teachers on adjustments, differentiation and inclusive pedagogy
  • Coordinating case management for students requiring extensive or substantial adjustments
  • Supporting the implementation of effective intervention and targeted teaching
  • Leading and supporting NCCD processes and data systems
  • Building strong partnerships with families, external agencies and support services
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement priorities and decision-making processes
