The Statewide Services team is seeking a dynamic and collaborative leader to undertake the statewide role of Head of Department - Student Services, known locally as Head of Department - Assistive Technologies.
This position provides strategic leadership, coordination, and capability development to support schools, regions, and statewide teams in the effective implementation and use of assistive technologies for students with disability.
As a statewide leader, you will work collaboratively across regions to strengthen inclusive education practices, support consistent approaches, and build workforce capability in assistive technology implementation.

About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Lead statewide strategic initiatives relating to assistive technologies for students with disability.
- Lead a small team of teachers in assistive technology across the state.
- Provide high-level advice and support to schools, regional teams, and central office departmental staff regarding assistive technology research, practices, systems, and implementation.
- Coordinate and maintain statewide communication and resource platforms, including the management and ongoing development of SharePoint sites and digital collaboration spaces.
- Develop, implement, and monitor statewide processes, resources, and professional learning opportunities.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support equitable access and inclusive educational outcomes.
- Analyse emerging trends, technologies, and evidence-based practices to inform departmental priorities and decision-making.
- Support statewide consistency in service delivery, communication pathways, and information sharing.
About You:
We are seeking a motivated and innovative leader who demonstrates:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of assistive technologies and inclusive education practices for students with disability.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration skills.
- Experience leading projects, managing competing priorities, and coordinating statewide initiatives.
- Strong organisational and digital capability, including experience managing SharePoint or similar online collaboration platforms.
- The ability to work autonomously while fostering strong partnerships across geographically dispersed teams.
- A commitment to improving educational outcomes and access for students with disability.
Additional Information:
- This is a statewide role and may require travel, including overnight travel, across Queensland.
- The successful applicant will be required to undertake travel to schools, regional offices, and departmental sites as part of service delivery and stakeholder engagement.
