Join Capalaba State College in this temporary Guidance Officer opportunity, commencing 13 July until 11 December 2026.

Working within a collaborative Student Wellbeing and Inclusion team, you will support a diverse range of student learning, wellbeing, engagement and transition needs across the secondary setting.

We are inviting Expressions of Interest for a Guidance Officer who demonstrates strong professional judgement, calm decision-making, and a deep commitment to supporting young people and families within a multidisciplinary school environment.

About the School

Capalaba State College is a large Prep to Year 12 college in Capalaba with a strong focus on inclusion, wellbeing and positive student pathways. The College supports a diverse student population and offers a broad range of learning pathways and support structures across both primary and secondary settings.

Your opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams in a large and dynamic college environment, supporting inclusive practices and responsive interventions for young people. The position is well suited to a relationship-focused practitioner who values practical problem solving, collaborative case management and student-centred support.

The successful applicant will:

  • Demonstrate high levels of integrity, professionalism, and ethical practice
  • Communicate clearly and sensitively in complex situations
  • Balance advocacy for students with sound professional boundaries and departmental responsibilities
  • Contribute positively to a cohesive wellbeing and inclusion team
  • Manage competing priorities with organisation, initiative, and reliability
  • Use data, evidence, and professional expertise to inform decision-making and support planning
  • Remain calm and solutions-focused when working with vulnerable students, families, and staff
  • Demonstrate reflective practice, adaptability, and openness to feedback and direction
