Working in the administrative support team, the Finance Officer plays a vital role in upholding these values by ensuring that financial practices are transparent, compliant and support the best possible outcomes for students and families.
Working in partnership with the Principal, Business Manager and leadership team, the Finance Officer coordinates and monitors financial operations to ensure compliance with legislation and Department of Education policies, while supporting informed decision-making and responsible use of resources.
This role supports the school to prioritise student learning by ensuring resources are effectively managed and assists in maintaining processes that enable families to engage confidently with the school and support their child's educational journey.
The position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can confidently manage financial processes, maintain high standards of governance, and build strong working relationships across the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive financial services including budget management, financial reporting, procurement, banking, accounts payable/receivable, asset management and debt collection, in line with DoE requirements.
- Ensure all financial activities are compliant with legislation, DoE policies and audit requirements, maintaining strong governance, risk management and accountability practices.
- Provide accurate, timely financial advice and analysis to the Principal and Business Manager to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Manage and maintain financial data within OneSchool and associated DoE systems, ensuring accuracy, transparency and integrity of records.
- Monitor funding and expenditure to support effective budget planning, forecasting and sustainability, ensuring resources are aligned to student learning priorities.
- The successful applicant will demonstrate high integrity, professionalism, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic school environment.
- Support procurement and purchasing activities in accordance with government policy, probity and value-for-money principles.
- Identify issues and implement improvements to financial processes, systems and controls to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Provide guidance, training and support to staff to strengthen capability and ensure consistent application of financial procedures across the school.

The Perfect Fit:
- Proven experience in a Department of Education finance environment, including OneSchool, is essential for success in this role.
- Strong capability in financial governance, compliance, audit readiness and risk management within a public sector or school setting is required.
- A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is mandatory.
