We are seeking a professional and highly motivated Student Support Officer to join the Metropolitan South Region EAL/D team.
This position involves travel throughout Metropolitan South Region to assist in the facilitation of partnerships between families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
and schools to support the engagement and social well-being of CALD students for improved educational outcomes.
As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in working in a team environment, contributing to the future of education in Queensland. This position will be located at Yeronga SHS.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.90FTE), 65.25 hours per fortnight, until 18th December 2026 unless otherwise determined.

About the Role:
- You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key responsibilities:
- Build and sustain positive relationships with CALD students, parents, communities, and elders to ensure optimum outcomes, including providing input into local decision-making and addressing concerns through a team-based management approach.
- Liaise with CALD families, students, schools, and other stakeholders to identify and address educational, social, emotional, or behavioural issues, including conducting home visits to encourage school attendance and motivation.
- Monitor the behaviour and wellbeing of CALD students, implementing intervention strategies and leading initiatives to foster a positive, caring, and supportive school environment.
- Manage the Transitions program to support students moving between primary and secondary schools and from Milperra State High School to local high schools, ensuring students' needs are met within the school context.
- Develop and innovate data capture systems to inform intervention strategies and deliver presentations to educate parents, community members, and schools on the Queensland education system, cultural awareness, and culturally responsive practices.
About You:
Ideally, you will possess strong community engagement and administrative skills, demonstrate cultural responsiveness and inclusive practice, take responsibility for your contributions to the team, show high attention to detail, and communicate effectively with individuals and groups from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
We are seeking a flexible, energetic and confident professional with highly developed interpersonal skills who can build and sustain positive relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, internal staff and external stakeholders, and effectively manage multiple priorities within dynamic and community-focused environments.
You will also hold a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services, a mandatory requirement for this role.
