We are seeking an innovative and collaborative Head of Department to lead the digital transformation of QPSC's Vocational Education and Training (VET) curriculum.
Based at our Coorparoo Campus, this strategic leadership role will oversee the transition of our existing VET curriculum from traditional print-based resources to engaging, accessible and high-quality online learning within the QLearn platform.

About the Role:
As Head of Department, you will lead the transition of QPSC's Vocational Education and Training (VET), literacy and numeracy curriculum to the QLearn platform, creating engaging, accessible and consistent online learning experiences for students across our nine campuses and supporting statewide online delivery.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Lead the migration of existing VET curriculum resources from print-based booklets into the QLearn online learning platform.
- Design engaging, accessible and contemporary online learning experiences aligned with best practice in digital pedagogy.
- Review, refine and quality assure curriculum resources to ensure they align with national training package requirements, Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) requirements where applicable, and school quality standards.
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team, teachers, and curriculum experts to ensure learning materials remain current and fit for purpose.
- Develop consistent templates, design standards and processes for online course development across all VET programs.
- Embed interactive learning activities, formative assessment, multimedia resources and learner supports to enhance student engagement.
- Ensure all online courses comply with accessibility requirements and universal design principles.
- Provide advice, coaching and professional learning to teachers in the effective use of QLearn and online teaching strategies.
- Monitor project timelines and prioritise curriculum development to meet organisational deadlines.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of online courses and implement continuous improvement based on student and teacher feedback.
Desired capabilities:
- Extensive knowledge of VET curriculum, competency-based training and assessment.
- Experience designing online learning using learning management systems (QLearn highly desirable).
- Strong instructional design skills with the ability to transform traditional learning resources into engaging digital courses.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High-level written communication and attention to detail.
- The ability to build collaborative relationships and influence curriculum improvement across multiple campuses.
- Strong analytical skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- A proactive, innovative approach to leveraging technology to improve teaching and learning.
