Fernbrooke State School is seeking a Deputy Principal to join our leadership team.

As part of our emerging strategic direction, we are looking for a visionary and knowledgeable educational leader to drive our K-1 Early Years strategy and play a significant role in shaping our approach to early years education.

This leadership position will lead curriculum, teaching and learning, student support and partnership development across the K-1 juncture, with a strong focus on ensuring every child experiences a high-quality start to their schooling.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will manage operational aspects of the school, while working alongside the Principal and leadership team to implement our Strong Start improvement agenda, strengthen teacher capability, and foster meaningful partnerships with families and Early Childhood Education Centres

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic leadership alongside the Principal to develop and implement a shared vision for K-1 Early Years education that promotes age-appropriate pedagogies, evidence-informed literacy instruction, contextual high-quality curriculum implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the implementation of the school's Strong Start improvement agenda by building teacher capability through professional learning, instructional leadership and collaborative practices.
  • Foster a culture of high expectations, integrity and inclusion by modelling ethical leadership, embedding socially just practices, and ensuring every child experiences success through high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with families, early childhood providers, government agencies and community organisations to enhance transitions into school and through to year 1 to improve student progress
  • Provide effective governance and operational leadership by deputising for the Principal when required, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and legislation, and strategically managing resources to achieve school improvement priorities.
