The North Coast Region is seeking a Principal Education Officer - Students in Care (PEO-SIC) to lead the coordination and support of students in care across the region for a period of 12 weeks.
This strategic role involves close collaboration with Child Safety and non-government agencies to ensure timely and effective support that enhances educational outcomes for these students.
The PEO-SIC also works directly with school leaders, providing expert guidance on matters related to students in care and strengthening partnerships with local Child Safety service centres.

About the Role
As the Principal Education Officer - Students in Care, you will:
- Provide strategic advice to assist with planning and resource allocation to deliver equitable education services for Students in Care, aligned with the department's framework.
- Deliver specialist operational advice to schools, regional staff, and senior officers to support the effective implementation of the Students in Care program.
- Lead regional planning efforts by offering high-level, timely advice on inclusive and equitable schooling practices for Students in Care.
- Develop, implement, and review operational policies, procedures, standards, and programs related to Students in Care, including the preparation of reports, submissions, and correspondence on sensitive matters.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, school communities, and community organisations to enhance educational outcomes for Students in Care.
- Promote and monitor programs that address the diverse needs of Students in Care, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, students with disability, students with learning difficulties, mental health challenges, or geographic isolation.
- Coordinate a consistent, collaborative approach to school-based student wellbeing and engagement initiatives in partnership with departmental staff and external stakeholders.
- Manage, monitor, and report on the regional Education Support Funding Program (ESFP) budget to ensure effective use of resources and accountability.
- Maintain and analyse data sets to inform regional practice and support evidence-based decision-making for Students in Care.
- Oversee the monitoring of Students in Care regarding school disciplinary absences, exemptions, and education support funding completion rates, and represent the department at regional interagency meetings.
- Perform other suitable duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position as required.
- Travel is a requirement of the role.
