About Walkervale State School

The school has continually developed over the past fifty years. Additional facilities provided include a Swimming Pool in 1961, a Library and a double unit Pre-school, (now Prep) both in 1975, and an Administration Building in 1988. More recently, in 2005 a new Special Education Unit was provided and major work was also undertaken throughout the school as part of the Smart School Renewal Project. In 2007 a new Early Childhood Developmental centre opened and a second Preparatory Year teaching block opened in 2008.

The efforts of the Parents' and Citizens' Association along with federal government Investing in Our Schools funding resulted in all primary classrooms being air conditioned in 2008. All remaining areas will be air conditioned by the end of 2010.
