This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.

About the Role
As the Agricultural Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the school's agricultural programs by ensuring the effective and efficient management of agricultural systems and resources. You will be responsible for maintaining the school's agricultural field study sites, animals, crops, machinery, and equipment to ensure they remain safe, functional, and secure. Working closely with teaching staff, you will help deliver high-quality, hands-on learning experiences that engage students in real-world agricultural practices. About You
We are looking for someone who possesses a foundational understanding of agricultural practices and demonstrates basic skills relevant to the field. You should be confident working independently, with strong time management skills to meet daily tasks and responsibilities without close supervision. Your enthusiasm for the role should be evident in your proactive approach and eagerness to learn. Strong communication skills are essential, allowing you to convey information clearly and collaborate effectively when needed. You should be dependable, self-motivated, and take pride in producing quality outcomes. Additionally, your ability to adapt to changing work environments and maintain a positive attitude will make you a valuable addition to our agricultural team.
Your Responsibilities
As the Agricultural Assistant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and maintain all agricultural field sites, including fencing. Carry out crop and soil improvement and enhancement activities.
- Operate and carry out general maintenance of various agricultural machinery, equipment and materials.
- Plant, water and care for crops and market gardens and carry out related duties including regular physical maintenance including the use of appropriate insecticides and fertilisers where necessary.
- Carry out animal husbandry duties.
- Assist and support the Agriculture Teacher with practical classes and activities.
