The North Coast Region Partnerships and Programs team is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Education Officer (EOSD) which will look at Age-Appropriate Pedagogy to advance equity and excellence across State Schools within the region.

The position will focus on strengthening the knowledge and capability of school leaders and educators in early years curriculum, pedagogy, and successful transitions, with an emphasis on improving outcomes for children from Kindergarten to Year 2.

The Senior Education Officer (EOSD) will work collaboratively with school supervisors, school leaders, and teaching staff across the North Coast Region to provide contextualised support that ensures every child experiences a strong start to schooling through high-quality learning and effective transitions. The Perfect Role for you

The Senior Education Officer (EOSD) will work collaboratively with school supervisors, school leaders, and teaching staff across the North Coast Region to provide contextualised support that ensures every child experiences a strong start to schooling through high-quality learning and effective transitions.

The successful applicant will demonstrate deep expertise in early years education, with a thorough understanding of the Australian Curriculum, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline, Age-Appropriate Pedagogies, and effective transition practices.

This role requires travel across the North Coast Region to support schools, including some overnight travel as required.

A four-year early childhood teaching qualification is highly desirable (please see role description for mandatory requirements for this role). This position is offered for a until 26 June 2026, unless otherwise determined 

How You Will Strengthen Early Years Teaching and Learning Across the North Coast Region

As the Senior Education Officer (EOSD), you will play a pivotal role in strengthening teaching and learning across Kindergarten to Year 2 classrooms throughout the North Coast Region. This position is part of the Partnerships and Programs team and supports schools to deliver high-quality, evidence-informed curriculum and pedagogy that reflect the intent of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline and the Australian Curriculum.

You will work collaboratively with school leaders and teachers to build capability, model high-impact age-appropriate pedagogies, and embed practices that actively engage young learners in purposeful and joyful learning experiences. Through the strategic use of data and evidence-based tools, including the Continuum of Learning and Development, Early Start Literacy and Numeracy, and the Prep to Year 2 Literacy Continuum, you will guide schools in making informed decisions that improve outcomes for children.

The role works closely with the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) team to strengthen early years practice and ensure smooth, confident transitions across settings. While the primary focus is on the Starting Strong phase of schooling (Prep to Year 2), the role may also support practices across other year levels as required.

Your Responsibilities 

As the Senior Education Officer (EOSD) , your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • Collaborate with school leadership teams to design and deliver professional learning aligned to evidence-based, age-appropriate pedagogies across Kindergarten to Year 2.
  • You will model effective teaching practices that engage children through play, inquiry, collaboration, and explicit instruction that are age-appropriate pedagogies providing a shared language and evidence-informed decision-making framework for effective early years teaching.
  • Empowering teachers to select and balance a range of pedagogical practices that actively engage children in meaningful and purposeful learning, enhance learning outcomes through responsive, intentional teaching, and support children's curiosity, wellbeing, and confidence as capable learners.
  • Guidance to teachers in curriculum planning, assessment, and the use of evidence-based tools to inform pedagogy and transitions throughout the North Coast Region.
