About the School
Hervey Bay State High School is a co-educational secondary school on the Fraser Coast, catering for students in Years 7-12. The school offers a broad curriculum including academic, vocational and specialist programs such as marine studies, supporting students to transition successfully to further education, training or employment.
About the Role
As the Business Manager, you will work closely with the Principal and senior leadership team to lead and manage the School's business operations. You will provide high-level strategic advice and oversee the delivery of corporate services to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the school.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of the School's financial management practices, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Managing human resource functions including workforce planning, recruitment processes, and staff establishment in line with departmental policies.
- Overseeing the management of physical resources, including facilities, assets, procurement, and infrastructure projects. Experience with direct-to-market processes is highly desirable.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and departmental procedures across all business operations.
- Providing strategic advice to the Principal on financial, operational and risk management matters.
- Leading and developing administrative and support staff to build capability and ensure high performance.
- Managing contracts, service agreements, and relationships with external providers and stakeholders.
- Supporting governance processes, audits, and reporting requirements.
- Driving continuous improvement in business systems, processes, and service delivery.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in financial and resource management, ideally within an educational or government setting.
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to manage teams, build capacity, and foster a positive workplace culture.
- High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide strategic advice and make sound decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of governance, compliance and risk management frameworks.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment.
