An exciting opportunity exists at Mountain Creek State High School for a motivated and energetic Attendance Officer to join our team.
The hours for this position are 6:30 to 3:15 pm - 7.25 hours per day + 1 additional hour per day (total 8.25 hours per day) to continue wages during school holidays periods.
The Attendance Officer plays a key role in monitoring attendance, analysing absence data and working closely with school staff to address barriers to participation.
The position contributes to the effective coordination of attendance processes, ensuring accurate record-keeping and alignment with departmental requirements.

Your Role:
As the Attendance Officer, you will play an important role in supporting student engagement by attending to student attendance matters both at the counter, via phone / email / and in Compass (the school's student management software), monitoring daily attendance, maintaining accurate records and following up on unexplained absences.
Working closely with staff and students, you will help identify patterns of non-attendance and contribute to early intervention strategies that support positive outcomes.
You will provide timely administrative support, generate reports for school leaders and assist in coordinating processes that promote consistent attendance and student participation across the school.
The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive, student-centred approach to support early intervention, informed decision-making and improved attendance outcomes.
Responsibilities include:
- Attend to student attendance matters including at the student counter, via phone and email, and through Compass.
- Monitor and manage daily student attendance, generating reports and maintaining accurate records in school systems.
- Follow up on unexplained absences by liaising with parents/carers, teachers and relevant staff.
- Analyse attendance data to identify patterns of non-attendance and support early intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with school staff and support services to address barriers impacting student attendance and engagement.

- You communicate confidently and professionally, building positive relationships with students, families and staff.
- With strong administrative skills and sound judgement, you are able to maintain accurate records, manage sensitive information and follow processes with consistency.
- You take a proactive, solutions-focused approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting student engagement, wellbeing and regular attendance.
