Principal (Level 7) - Woodford Youth Education and Training Centre

We are seeking a Principal to lead the Woodford Youth Education and Training Centre, a specialised educational facility within the Woodford Youth Detention Centre, in partnership with the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support.
Opening in 2027, the Woodford Youth Education and Training Centre will be a key part of the new Woodford Youth Detention Centre, located on Neurum Road, Woodford.
The facility is designed to support the rehabilitation of young people through education, skills development, and personal growth, with a strong focus on creating opportunities for learning and positive behavioural change.

About this opportunity
As the Principal of the Woodford Education and Training Centre, you will lead the delivery of innovative, inclusive, and high-quality education programs tailored to the diverse needs of young people in custody.
Your leadership will ensure the Centre becomes a model of excellence in youth justice education, equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for successful reintegration into the community. The Centre will feature state-of-the-art multipurpose spaces for education, skills training, and personal development, alongside areas for cultural connection, physical activity, and wellbeing.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the development of a dynamic, inclusive, and high-quality curriculum tailored to the unique needs of young people in custody. This involves taking a strategic and innovative approach to curriculum design, delivery, and evaluation to ensure that educational programs are engaging, relevant, and effective in supporting rehabilitation and Successful transitions.
As Principal, you will ensure the Centre is a place where all students and staff feel respected and supported, with reasonable adjustments made to meet individual needs.
Key responsibilities of the role
- Educational Leadership
• Develop and lead a shared educational vision focused on achieving positive learning outcomes for all students.
• Design and deliver individualised, culturally responsive programs, including literacy, numeracy, vocational training, and life skills.
• Foster a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and professional development among staff. - Social Justice and Inclusion
• Embed socially just practices and ensure equitable access to education for all students, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
• Promote diversity, inclusion, and respect, creating a safe and supportive learning environment. - Community and Stakeholder Partnerships
• Collaborate with Youth Justice, community organisations, and industry to deliver holistic support and pathways for students.
• Build partnerships to enhance opportunities for further education, training, and employment post-release. - Strategic and Operational Leadership
• Provide strategic direction aligned with the Centre's rehabilitative goals and the Department of Youth Justice's objectives.
• Manage resources effectively to deliver high-quality education and maintain compliance with relevant legislation and policies. - Resource and Compliance Management
• Oversee the allocation of resources to support teaching and learning.
• Ensure compliance with child safety, education, and workplace health and safety standards.
