Avondale State School is seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The successful applicant will take pride in their work, demonstrate attention to detail, follow workplace health and safety procedures, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. It is the responsibility of school cleaners to deliver a clean and hygienic learning environment for all students.

About our School:

Avondale State School was established in 1895 and is located approximately 30 kilometres from Bundaberg, within the North Coast Education Region. Our beautiful School has a long and interesting history involving the pioneers of our great sugar cane history. Our experienced staff provide quality learning opportunities for children to meet their educational needs and students working at a different year level to their peers are supported through a variety of strategies and may work between classrooms to maximise their learning. Our core school values are 'respect, responsibility and safety'. Your Opportunity:

As the Cleaner, you will:

  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the site by providing a high level of cleaning support.
  • Ensure that the duties prescribed for the position are completed to an acceptable standard as determined by their supervisor, in accordance with the approved school cleaning program.
  • The Cleaner reports to the school Principal or nominated delegate. 

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning windows, pictures, doorknobs, taps, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, glass doors and cupboards.
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • Cobweb and mildew control, utilising extendable equipment as necessary.
  • Cleaning of concrete, bitumen, asphalt and paved surfaces.
  • Disposal of rubbish and litter control including removal of material from drains and gutters between and/or surrounding buildings.
  • Dusting including student and office furniture, equipment and fans.
  • Hosing, sweeping and vacuuming.
  • Removal of graffiti.
  • Vinyl/timber floor maintenance including buffing, stripping and polishing.
