You will be responsible for driving and providing expert advice in a service improvement team.

You will drive and support the successful delivery of services to improve quality, performance and continuous improvement activities for the National Injury Insurance Agency, Queensland (NIISQ Agency), Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) and Nominal Defendant (ND) (collectively referred to as the Motor Accident Insurance Schemes Queensland or MAIS-Q).

Your role

  • Lead, deliver, review and evaluate high quality audit services to meet strategic and operational needs, including ensuring operational compliance within the Quality and Performance Framework
  • Lead the development of Scheme Frameworks
  • Lead and provide strategic advice regarding key projects
  • Monitor and coordinate quality and performance governance reporting activities for Scheme teams
  • Monitor and report on operational implementation of internal and external review processes.
  • Lead the participant engagement framework
  • Monitor and report on participant engagement activities, including contract negotiations.
  • Provide thoughtful leadership and specialist expert advice to the Manager, Service Improvement Team, Scheme executive team and key internal and external stakeholders
  • Coach and mentor team members and lead onboarding and probation of new team members.
  • Implement business and operational processes to improve capability and training opportunities for Scheme teams, including operational compliance within a Scheme Capability Framework
  • Consult and negotiate with key internal stakeholders on matters related to policies and procedures.
  • Communicate, negotiate and build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Contribute to building an inclusive work environment and team culture to enable a positive and healthy workplace.
  • Provide supervision, development, mentoring and guidance regarding the Scheme Practice Manual, including leading the monitoring, development and review of content.
  • Other appropriate duties as directed or negotiated, commensurate with the role.


About you

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on supervising, coaching and mentoring staff to foster outcomes aligned to organizational objectives.
  • Experience and well-developed knowledge of quality and assurance principles
  • Knowledge and experience of participants with complex injuries and disabilities and their treatment, care and support needs
  • Understanding of insurance principles and experience with legislative decision making
  • Experience in sensitively dealing with confronting information and complex issues and facilitating effective solutions, including making sound decisions and recommendations based on relevant evidence in relation to disability services in a statutory environment.
  • Strong commitment and alignment with NIISQ Agency purpose, guiding principles and values, including quality and continuous improvement.
  • Expertise and well-developed knowledge of project management principles
  • Experience leading and creating strong stakeholder relationships, policy development, organizational and analytical skills and a passion for driving business improvement.
  • Able to quickly respond to changing demands and priorities, with the confidence to make quick decisions, balanced with delivering timely high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills and ability to build rapport, communicate complex information and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders.
