You will be responsible for leading a NIISQ team of specialist treatment, care and support staff members who provide expert advice on modifications, rehabilitation, assistive technology and attendant care support services to the Agency.

You will oversee and advise on the delivery of high-quality specialist operational and technical advice and support related to the treatment, care and support needs of participants with complex injuries and disabilities.

You will lead, support and manage a team to ensure they successfully deliver services for the National Injury Insurance Agency, Queensland (NIISQ Agency), Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) and Nominal Defendant (ND) (collectively referred to as the Motor Accident Insurance Schemes Queensland or MAIS-Q).

Your role

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for providing expert internal advice and specialist strategic and operational support ensuring legislative alignment and facilitating high quality services to NIISQ participants.
  • Lead and manage a team with specialist expertise in rehabilitation, assistive technology, attendant, care and support, home modifications and vehicle modifications.
  • Provide supervision, development, mentoring and guidance regarding participants with complex injuries and disabilities, staff safety and well-being and staff caseload monitoring and management.
  • Provide high level strategic advice around treatment, care and support and disability and health sector trends and developments relevant to the NIISQ.
  • Identify, develop and/or implement continuous improvement opportunities including business and operational processes to improve participant and Agency outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain influential and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure participants receive high quality treatment, care and support services.
  • Actively contribute to broader leadership team activities, including planning, performance leadership, capability development and a learning culture.
  • Drive learnings and improvements as a result of findings from service reviews to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, working with management to identify root causes and put in place sustainable corrective actions.
  • Represent the Agency and contribute to building inclusive communities through partnership and collaboration with stakeholders and the broader community.
  • Understand and discharge delegated functions in accordance with the Act.

About you

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a strong commitment to shared values, and a broad skillset that includes:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a strong focus on supervising, coaching and mentoring staff to foster outcomes aligned to organisational objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of participants with complex injuries and disabilities and their treatment, care and support needs.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the health and disability sectors and evidenced based and best practice treatment, care and support relevant to NIISQ participants.
  • Leadership expertise in developing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships preferably within the health or disability sectors.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills, coupled with sound knowledge of project management principles and successful project delivery.
  • Commitment and alignment with NIISQ Agency purpose, guiding principles and values.
