The Mount Isa cluster of schools is looking for 3 Deputy Principals (one in P-2, and two in Years 3-7) to lead work across the cluster.

This work is related to building teacher capacity, promoting student engagement and sense of belonging, improving student transitions, facilitating collaboration and professional learning and analysing data.

Who We Are:

The Mount Isa Precinct is a coalition of the 10 state schools in Mount Isa. Our aim is to work collaboratively with and across schools and with government and non-government agencies in Mount Isa to improve the educational outcomes for young people in our community.

Step Into Your Next Chapter:

In this role you will have responsibility for leading the following activities across the Mount Isa Cluster of schools (Barkly Highway SS, Healy SS, Happy Valley SS, Mount Isa Central SS, Mount Isa School of the Air, Mount Isa Special School, Spinifex State College, Sunset SS and Townview SS):

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead initiatives that promote student engagement and effective pedagogy, particularly across Prep to Year 2 (Early Years) and across Years 3-7.
  • Build staff capability in fostering a strong sense of belonging and connection for First Nations students to improve attendance and engagement.
  • Lead supported and responsive transition practices to and through school, ensuring continuity of learning and wellbeing.
  • Support inclusive practices across the cluster.
  • Form and maintain strong partnerships with parents, First Nations communities, government agencies and community groups to support student success
  • Facilitate cluster collaboration and professional learning for staff.
  • Lead the tracking and analysis of cluster data to inform decision-making and strategy.
  • Spotlight and share effective practices across cluster schools to build collective capability.
