Townsville Community Learning Centre- A State Special School is seeking a high-performing Deputy Principal to lead the implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning across the P-12 campus with the strategic responsibility for the Senior sector of the school, years 9-12.

This executive role is suited to an instructional leader able to collaboratively drive whole-school improvement priorities.

Townsville Community Learning Centre is a state special school catering for students from Prep to Year 12 who have a verified Intellectual Disability.

At Townsville Community Learning Centre we pride ourselves on providing rich, engaging learning experiences for all of our students. Students from Prep to year 10 access the Australian Curriculum in all key learning areas.

  • Leading the authentic implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning across the campus.
  • Building teacher capability through professional learning, coaching, moderation and feedback.
  • Coordinating health management processes across the campus for students with a range of medical conditions.
  • Strengthen SET planning, pathway clarity and post-school transitions.
  • Coordinate PATH planning for students and their families.
  • Ensure senior schooling systems and compliance are managed with precision and integrity.
  • Uphold the deputy principalship as a values-based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Model calm, relational and visible leadership.
  • Deputise for the Principal when required and contributes to whole-school leadership.

  • Has experience working with students with complex learning needs.
  • Leads with clarity, warmth and high expectations.
  • Builds strong, professional relationships.
