Who We Are;
Mornington Island State School is a Kindy to Year 10 campus located in the township of Gununa, within the Wellesley Island Group in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Mornington Island is the largest of the North Wellesley Islands and is located approximately 125km north-west of Burketown, 200km west of Karumba and 444km from Mount Isa.
The Mornington Shire spans twenty-one islands, covering an area of 1,248 square kilometres.

About the Role:
- Lead Kindergarten to Year 4, with a strong focus on early years pedagogy and student outcomes
- Work in partnership with the Head of Curriculum to lead curriculum implementation across the school
- Oversee the Mornington Island State Delivered Kindergarten, ensuring alignment to early childhood frameworks and strong transition to school
- Build teacher capability through coaching, feedback and professional learning
- Use data to drive improvement in teaching, learning and student outcomes

Key Capabilities:
- Strong instructional leadership, particularly in early years and curriculum
- Ability to lead school improvement and change aligned to strategic priorities
- Effective management of curriculum, assessment and reporting processes
- Capacity to build positive relationships with community and embed cultural responsiveness
- Proven ability to lead and develop staff in a collaborative, high-expectations environment
