Camooweal State School is seeking a Schools Officer, Grounds to join the team!
The successful applicant will work as part of a small, collaborative school team, supporting the Principal and Business Manager to ensure the school grounds are maintained to a high standard.
The role requires independence in day-to-day tasks, alongside a willingness to contribute positively to the broader school environment.

This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.
Who We Are:
Camooweal State School was established in 1893 and is located on the Barkly Highway, approximately 13 km east of the Northern Territory border.
Our school has two multi-age classes, with our enrolment currently ranging between 30 and 40 students from prep to year 7. 95% of our students are Indigenous.
Our school works towards establishing and maintaining positive connections within the local and wider community. We have a Breakfast Club that runs every day of the school week and offer extra curricula activities in the areas of sport and arts.
As a small, close-knit school community, maintaining professionalism, discretion, and respectful relationships is essential.
Staff are expected to uphold the school's values at all times and contribute to a positive and inclusive environment.

Applicants should demonstrate:
- Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or general maintenance work, including mowing, watering, weeding, and basic equipment upkeep
- Ability to safely operate and maintain grounds equipment (e.g. mowers, brush cutters, tractors) in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines
- Knowledge of safe handling and application of chemicals such as fertilisers and insecticides in line with WHS procedures
- Ability to follow instructions and complete routine tasks independently, with appropriate supervision for non-routine duties
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, and maintain equipment servicing schedules
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Principal, Business Manager, and staff
- In addition, applicants must demonstrate: A clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality in a school setting, particularly within a small community
- The ability to maintain professional boundaries and conduct themselves appropriately both within and outside the workplace
- A commitment to acting impartially and in the best interests of the school at all times
