About the School:

Mount Isa School of the Air is a co-educational Prep to Year 10 distance education school supporting approximately 160 students across a vast and remote region of North West Queensland, from the Gulf of Carpentaria to Birdsville and beyond.

The school delivers high-quality teaching aligned to the Australian Curriculum, with a strong focus on literacy, numeracy, digital learning, and student wellbeing. Guided by its core values of Excellence in Education in the Outback and We Are a School of Families, it fosters a highly connected and supportive community built on strong partnerships between students, families, home tutors, and staff.

About the Role:

As the Principal you will have responsibility for the following:

• Leading the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.

• Set high standards for student and staff performance.
• Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
• Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.

• Understand the legislation and policies impacting on schooling.
• Manage resources to achieve goals.
