About the Happy Valley Cluster:

  • Base School: Happy Valley State School - 0.90 FTE
  • Mount Isa School of the Air - 0.10 FTE

About the Role:

As the Head of Special Education Services, you will lead inclusive education practices and support improved learning outcomes for students with disability across the Happy Valley cluster.

Reporting to the Principal, you will work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, families and external agencies to ensure students receive high quality support, reasonable adjustments and targeted interventions aligned with departmental policies and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Special Education Program to provide advice and support for students with disability.
  • Supporting teachers to implement inclusive teaching practices and reasonable adjustments.
  • Coordinating targeted intervention and case management for students requiring additional support.
  • Supporting staff to access specialist services, professional development and additional supports.
  • Participating in school planning and decision-making processes.
  • Implementing and overseeing school-wide systems and NCCD processes.
  • Building strong partnerships with families, community groups and external agencies.
  • Managing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve educational goals.
