About the Role
As Head of Department - Student Engagement (Identified), you will lead the school's Partnership Initiative with a focus on culture, engagement, attendance and wellbeing.
Working alongside staff, families, Elders and community partners, you will strengthen culturally responsive practices and help create positive pathways for student success.
In this role, you will:
- Support staff to strengthen reading instruction and the effective use of EAL/D strategies.
- Lead the contextualisation and implementation of Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum using local knowledge, culture and community resources.
- Strengthen culturally connected curriculum and engagement approaches that support student wellbeing, attendance and achievement.
- Develop locally responsive, place-based strategies to improve participation and educational outcomes.
- Use data and evidence-informed practices to case manage students requiring targeted attendance and engagement support.
- Coach and mentor staff to build capability, confidence and alignment with school priorities.
- Collaborate with Elders, families, agencies and community organisations to embed First Nations perspectives and strengthen community voice.
- Connect students and families with appropriate services and supports while maintaining key stakeholder relationships.
