The Geriatric Unit are looking for a Staff Specialist to join their team. This role will provide specialist clinical care to older patients  Assume overall responsibility for patient care  Actively participate in service planning activities as the Department expands and evolves  Adapt to new roles and responsibilities according to the needs of the Department  Supervise and teach registrars, junior doctors and medical students, and teach other members of the multidisciplinary team  Participate in and/or lead research and quality improvement activities

About the Role

Services provided include: 

• Provides specialist services at Metro South Hospital and Health Service
• Provides inpatient acute and sub-acute care, including participating in the on-call roster
• Provides inpatient consultations as requested
• Provides outpatient consultations
• Participates in multidisciplinary clinics and meetings

Your key responsibilities

• This role reports to the Director of Geriatric Medicine.
• This position fulfils accountabilities and responsibilities in accordance with Metro South's purpose and objectives.
• There are no direct responsibilities for budget beyond those delegated to geriatric consultants by the Director of the unit.
