The State Member for Mirani, Mr Stephen Andrew MP, is seeking applications for an Assistant Electorate Officer in a fast paced, dynamic environment that offers variety and challenge. The Member is looking for someone to work closely with the Electorate Officer and the MP to support them with their Parliamentary duties and the community within the electorate of Mirani. The office is located in Sarina.

The objectives of the Assistant Electorate Officer position are:

  1. Providing secretarial, executive and administrative support.
  2. Supporting and engaging with constituents and community groups.
  3. Managing news media including social media.

Whilst the above are broad objectives set for the position, specific tasks may include:

  1. Supporting the Electorate Officer.
  2. Liaising with constituents who contact the electorate office for information and assistance.
  3. Engaging with community groups directly or through established external and online forums.
  4. Managing and executing social media strategies, creating and publishing content, managing social media accounts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing social media metrics to improve performance.
  5. Sourcing and creating compelling stories that resonate with the electorate.
  6. Demonstrating initiative to search for stories that are not already breaking and identify unique angles that drive conversation and move the issue forward
  7. Compilating and publishing of newsletter/surveys.

Applicants must demonstrate:

  1. Good general knowledge of the Queensland political landscape and current affairs.
  2. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of clients and stakeholders.
  3. Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  4. The ability to work autonomously and part of a small team;
  5. A passion for delivering outcomes.
