The Queensland Parliamentary Service plays an integral role in providing multi-faceted support and advice to a broad range of Members of Parliament. The purpose of the Parliamentary Service is to serve, support, promote and strengthen the Legislative Assembly to enable it to fulfil its various functions, which are fundamental to Queensland's democratic system of government.
Sergeant-at-Arms and Manager, Security and Reception Services will play a vital strategic and operational part in helping drive overall cultural transformation and enhanced customer engagement practices. With a Deputy SaA, supervisors and security officers, you will be the focal point for building, implementing and delivering all aspects of a progressive, customer-service focused team. Your responsibilities include leading the Security and Reception Service area, maintaining a daily, 24 hour, safe and secure environment for Members of Parliament, staff and visitors to the parliamentary precinct including the co-ordination of emergency response and provision of first aid services. You will also contribute to ensuring a safe and secure environment for Members, staff and visitors to Electorate Offices located around the State (97 locations) and in liaison with the QPS, provide strategic advice to Members and staff about personal security issues.
You will influence and drive major change agendas across a broad range of areas including developing strategies and plans, procedures and policies, while also developing and leading your own passionate, high-achieving team, who will be committed to providing a superior customer experience to all who come to the precinct.
Personally, you will be a contemporary, innovative thinker with the ability to balance both strategic and operational priorities, you have an impressive track record of leading and developing security teams through complex change initiatives and business transformation, while also maintaining and delivering high level support, advice and direction to a broad range of stakeholders. On a technical level, you will have a thorough understanding of contemporary security, fire safety, budget, strategy and planning and general operational procedures.
As a leader, you thrive on the challenge of change and the autonomy to implement your own ideas and vision. You know the value of collaboration and have the engagement and communication skills needed to quickly build a culture of shared thinking and common objectives. You also have the tact and political awareness essential to balancing disparate stakeholder agendas, needs and priorities.
