Parliamentary Services is seeking a dedicated Assistant Electorate Officer to join Ms Natalie Marr MP Member for Thuringowa and play a pivotal role in the Thuringowa electorate office located in Kirwan, Townsville.

We are looking for a motivated person who has excellent communication and people skills. Our office works as a team and prides itself on treating people with respect and great job satisfaction for the team.

This Assistant Electorate Officer role is one of two vacancies advertised and will be mainly focused on diary management and community engagement, as well as providing exceptional administrative support. In addition, the role has a focus on providing forward strategic planning for the Member of Thuringowa.

This will be a fast-paced, dynamic environment that offers variety and challenge. If you have a passion for community service and are confident in writing and organisational skills, we encourage you to apply.

Key Objectives:

  • Working closely with the Member for diary management.
  • Provide exceptional executive, and administrative support.
  • Foster strong relationships by supporting and engaging with constituents and community groups.
  • General administration and working with the team on driven results.

Your Role:

  • Assist in the operation of the electorate office alongside the Electorate Officer.
  • Engage with community groups both directly and through established forums.
  • Manage and maintain the Member's strategic community engagement plan with precision.

Your Skills:

  • Navigating the media landscape and adept at managing social media channels.
  • Proficient with digital tools and experienced in website and media monitoring.
  • A proactive problem-solver, known for your creativity, communication skills, and ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Highly organised with a forward-thinking mindset.
  • A solid grasp of the Queensland political landscape and current affairs would be beneficial but not mandatory.
