We are seeking a dedicated Electorate Officer, based in Redlynch, to support Ms Bree James MP Member for Barron River with her Parliamentary duties and to serve the community within the electorate of Barron River.

 Your primary objectives will be to:

  • Provide direct secretarial, executive, strategic and administrative support to the Member.
  • Support and engage with constituents, community groups, stakeholders and government officials.
  • Draft, proofread, and manage correspondence, media releases, briefing notes, speeches and reports.
  • Ensure Financial Compliance, with adherence to financial obligations as per relevant legislation and policies.
  • Coordinate and support events, community engagements, and parliamentary activities.
  • Provide general administration of the daily operations of the electorate office including budgeting, procurement and compliance with parliamentary procedures.
  • Manage a small dynamic team in house, and connect with a wider team statewide to support policy, media and constituency work.

Your duties and responsibilities as an Electorate Officer will see you provide:

Executive Support: Managing the Member's diary, appointments, meetings, and stakeholder coordination; preparing briefing notes, and conducting research.

Media Management: Monitoring media and community issues, handling media requests.

Travel Coordination: Coordinating travel, managing travel claims, and maintaining accurate records and data entry of expenses.

Community Engagement: Managing enquiries from constituents and community groups, providing information on public services and policies, developing & maintaining community networks, conducting research on constituent issues, and coordinating community meetings and events.

Your key strengths will be:

  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Efficient time management skills with a strong ability to prioritise and act with urgency.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective manager of people and projects.
  • Proactive, resourceful and able to work under pressure.
  • Strong leadership and team motivation skills.
  • Discreet, and professional, handling sensitive matters with care.
  • Trustworthy, dependable and flexible to support a dedicated MP.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and flexible thinker.
  • Fiscally responsible.
  • Exceptional knowledge of local issues in our region, and strong connection with community.
  • Previous experience in a parliamentary or local government office is advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of Queensland political and current affairs or willingness to learn.
