Queensland Parliamentary Service is seeking a temporary full-time Assistant Electorate Officer to join the team of Mr Nigel Dalton MP, Member for Mackay in the Mackay Electorate Office.
About the role
As an Assistant Electorate Officer, you will work closely with the Electorate Officer and with the MP to support him with his Parliamentary duties and for the community within the Mackay Electorate.
This is a temporary full-time position of 6 months duration with the possibility of extension.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing a busy inbox, responding and triaging a significant volume of emails to keep communication on track.
- Assisting in the administrative operation of the Mackay Electorate Office.
- Supporting the Electorate Officer.
- Liaising with constituents who contact the electorate office for information and assistance.
- Managing social media requirements for the electorate office and creating and editing online communications such as eNewsletters.
- Supporting and engaging with community groups directly or through established external forums.
- Attending after-hours community events when necessary from time-to-time.
About you
To ensure success in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of clients and stakeholders.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
- The ability to work autonomously and part of a small team.
- Proficiency in Office 365 suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Proficiency with digital graphics tools and experience in website and social media monitoring.
