Are you passionate about technology and live event support in the heart of democracy? The Queensland Parliamentary Service is seeking an AV Services Support Officer to ensure our official sessions and events are delivered with technical excellence and precision. You will be integral to maintaining reliable, high-quality audio visual communications across parliamentary happenings and supporting Members of Parliament, staff and guests with their AV requirements.

About Us:

The Parliamentary Service provides a range of procedural, administrative and support services to Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Service employees. The IT Service Area is located within the Information Services Division and consists of three teams: Portfolio, Policy and Architecture Team, Program and Solutions Development and Delivery Team and IT Operations Team. You will be part of the IT Operations Team, which provides IT support to the Parliamentary Service.

About the role:

  • Pre-Event Setup & Testing: Configure and test audio visual and broadcast equipment. Collaborate with event organisers and parliamentary speakers to guarantee every technical detail is aligned with event objectives.
  • Live Event Operation: Operate sound and visual systems during live sessions, ensuring on-air broadcasts meet the highest standards. Identify technical issues as they arise and deploy workarounds to keep events on schedule.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Inspect all set-ups to adhere strictly to Work Health and Safety regulations and internal parliamentary guidelines. Continuously monitor broadcasts for quality assurance and overall system performance.
  • Post-Event Management: Efficiently dismantle and secure equipment after each event, ensuring maintenance and readiness for subsequent engagements.
  • IT Support Contribution: Develop user guides, tip sheets, and training materials for internal use. Provide IT service desk support by resolving basic ICT (L1) and advanced audio visual (L2) issues, via ServiceNow.
  • Flexible & On-Call Engagement: Assist with additional responsibilities as directed by the Technology Operations Manager or Head of IT Services. This may include regional travel and after-hours support during parliamentary sittings.

What You will bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with advanced audio visual systems in complex, networked environments. You are adept at troubleshooting live broadcast issues with a calm, solutions-driven approach.
  • Proven experience in hands-on service desk support roles is essential, with familiarity with platforms like ServiceNow.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical documentation and coordinating with stakeholders within the Parliamentary Service.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, live operational environments by managing shifting responsibilities with resilience and efficiency.

Your Qualifications and Skills:

Whilst formal qualifications are not mandatory, relevant credentials or certifications (such as Dante and/or CSC) in audio visual systems or related fields, alongside academic or professional experience, will be highly regarded.
