Are you driven by a passion for strategy and policy development? Do you excel in research, analysis, and high-level policy writing? The Parliamentary Service is excited to invite applications for two Principal Policy Officer roles within our newly established Strategy, Policy and Planning Division. These fixed-term opportunities (up to three years) offer the chance to be part of the strategic transformation of the parliamentary service and make a lasting impact on one of Queensland's oldest organisations.

About Us

The new Strategy, Policy and Planning Division will be at the heart of driving our organisation's strategy and policy innovation and transformation initiatives. Bringing together People and Culture, Information Technology Services, and the Strategy and Planning Secretariat, our Division is central to positing the Parliamentary Service to achieve its goals, support its values and fulfill its vision.  

The Role

Reporting to the Deputy Clerk and Executive Director- Strategy, Policy and Planning, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction and organisational policy frameworks of the Parliamentary Service. As a Principal Policy Officer, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate strategic transformation projects, including workforce and digital strategy reviews and other corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Engage and consult with stakeholders across the organisation, facilitating collaborating, negotiating, and presenting on policy initiatives.
  • Draft high-quality reports, briefs, and submissions for executive leadership team consideration.
  • Conduct comprehensive research, analysis, and policy development aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Support organisational change initiatives and identify innovative approaches to enhance performance.

 About You

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate:

  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills including facilitating and presenting.
  • Strong critical and strategic thinking abilities to address complex organisational challenges.
  • Proven experience in policy writing, strategy development, and analytical research and ability to produce clear, high-level written reports, briefs, and strategy documents.
  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to fostering a positive team environment.
  • A degree or recognised qualification in business, public policy, human resources, information technology, strategy, or a related field is highly desirable (but not essential).
