The Office of Jonty Bush, State Member for Cooper is currently looking for an Assistant Electorate Officer for our Ashgrove office. In this multifaceted role, you'll provide comprehensive support to Jonty Bush MP, ensuring smooth operations within the Electorate Office and ensuring she is represented professionally within the community.

About the role

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Electorate Office staff with administrative functions, such as diary and events, monitoring a high-volume inbox, answering phones and triaging enquiries.
  • Assisting Electorate Office staff and the Member with monitoring social media, creating content and engaging with online forums, news, and maintain a positive social media presence.
  • Providing confidential secretarial, executive, and administrative assistance to Jonty Bush MP.
  • Liaising with constituents who contact the electorate office to offer information, support, and assistance and collaborating with community groups.
  • Supporting and engaging with community groups directly or through established external forums.
  • Managing duties in alignment with Parliamentary Service legislation, policies, and procedures.

About you          

We're looking for someone to complement our team with the following skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of clients and stakeholders.
  • Confidence in using a range of PC software packages, with the ability to learn.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • The ability to progress work autonomously, as part of a small team.
  • An understanding of the Queensland political landscape and current affairs would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • An ability to create and manage social media content is advantageous.
